The City Council announced its new proposed hotel development policy in a public hearing at its Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 9th. We’re calling for you to reach out to our City Council members before February 23rd to urge them to vote NO on the proposed Hotel Development Policy until they revise it to substantively reflect City Council’s stated goal of making equity their number one priority.

Help Our Brothers and Sisters in Asheville

February 4, 2021

A tent community under an overpass at the foot of Lexington Avenue in Asheville was demolished by the state Department of Transportation. Some of the people who camped there lost everything. We can send help to an agency that’s been in the streets all along, distributing tents, sleeping bags, warm clothes and medical supplies. BeLoved Asheville’s COVID Response Team can collect, purchase and distribute these items quicker than anyone else, so we’re asking your help to provide immediate assistance.

Democracy NC Accepting New Internship Applications for Summer 2021

January 29, 2021

Democracy NC is accepting applications for their 22nd annual student internship program, Democracy Summer! This year’s interns will work remotely for 9 weeks and earn a stipend while building relationships and receiving training that will help them start a career in social and political change. Applications are due by 7 pm, Monday, March 15th.
