World Ocean Day Celebration
June 11, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Every year, AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums throw a ‘Party for the Planet’ to encourage people to take action to create healthy habitats for wildlife and humans to thrive together.
On World Ocean Day, Saturday, June 11th, from 10 am to 12 pm, WNC Nature Center staff, volunteers and community partner RiverLink, will be making a splash in the Swannanoa River with a river clean up. Join the party to help preserve precious species like otters and hellbenders by cleaning up their habitat.
Afterward, the WNC Nature Center will host a BioBlitz by the river for the whole family to enjoy! The BioBlitz is open to the community and will be a fun hands-on educational activity for everyone.
To register for the river clean up, you must be 7+ years old and email Volunteers@wildwnc.org. Email Chrissy at ccochran@ashevillenc.gov for more information.
