STAND AGAINST RACISM: Triumph & Struggle in the Quest for Home, Family, Community & Culture

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville & Buncombe County and adé PROJECT are combining forces to display works of art that reflect the YWCA’s Stand Against Racism theme of “No Hate, No Fear.” The exhibit will run for six weeks, and the kick-off reception will be on the evening of Monday, April 29, at the YMI Cultural Center in downtown Asheville. For this exhibit, seven local artists will display works that reflect the involuntary migration of the peoples of Africa, which has historically resulted in TRIUMPH such as the beauty of African culture & heritage, as well as STRUGGLE with anti-Blackness, oppression, violence, and hate in the midst of white privilege and white supremacy.
