Special Screening of The Big Payback

August 28 @ 4:30 pm

Asheville is one of the first cities to grapple with the question of how to make amends for centuries of harm inflicted on Black people, but not the first: that would be Evanston, Illinois. They started down this unprecedented path back in November, 2019 and the story of how their journey began and what’s happened since is both fascinating and important to understand.

The Racial Justice Coalition, Building Bridges of Asheville and the YWCA of Asheville are cosponsoring a special screening of the powerful documentary that chronicles the Evanston reparations story, as well as the fight for national reparations. The film is called The Big Payback and it will be at the Grail Theater for one night only on Monday, August 28th.

The 7 pm showing is sold out. A 4:30 showing has been added.
