Teach-in: Why Raleigh’s Agenda is on the Asheville Ballot this Fall

October 17, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for “A Teach-in: Why Raleigh’s Agenda is on the Asheville Ballot This Fall” on October 17, at 6 p.m.

Join Democracy NC for an educational event to discuss the Asheville referendum on city council districts that will be on the ballot during the general election this fall. They’ll have a detailed grounding in what redistricting is from UNCA Political Science Professor Ashely Moraguez, a survey of the NC political landscape of why this specific legislation was imposed on the city of Asheville by the NC General Assembly from Democracy NC Campaign Director Marcus Bass, and an interactive map-drawing simulation by local Geographic Information System (Mapping) & Urban Planning Professional Blake Esselstyn, founder of Frontwater, LLC of Asheville.

This event will be “breakout” style with rotating stations, so participants can get the most from this. Their goal is to educate you all so that you can share your knowledge with others. They want Asheville voters to make an informed decision on election day. Their hope is that you will help us do the same by spreading the word..
