Poor People’s Campaign: Monthly Meeting

October 7, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

It’s time to get together again. Our regular monthly meeting is this Monday at Land of the Sky United Church of Christ, 15 Overbrook Place, Asheville (off Tunnel Road next to Prestige Subaru). On the agenda is a report on the MORE event in Greensboro. We also need to talk about rescheduling the Moral Monday event on food insecurity in the Mountains, which had to be postponed because of the Greensboro Mass Meeting.

People are in trouble here and around the nation. Nearly half of our families live in or near poverty, and our legislators here in North Carolina and in Washington have so far been unwilling to hear the cries of people who are struggling to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads.

We need to organize voter-registration efforts and then organize to get these new voters to the polls. We need to be a presence at events, with our voter registration forms and our passion for justice.

The task is too big for any one of us. We can only do this together.

Please plan to come out at 6 p.m. Monday. Bring a snack to share if you’d like and we can make it a party.

If Asheville is a bit too far for you to travel, we meet at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Jackson Street in Sylva.

I hope to see you at one of our monthly meetings.

Forward together,

Leslie Boyd
