NC Arboretum: Conservation and Ecological Education

The Sierra Club will present the program NC Arboretum: Conservation and Ecological Education on Thursday, March 4th, at 7 pm, with Jonathan Marchal, Director of Education. He will discuss the new Willow Pond as an outdoor classroom that teaches about stormwater and salamanders. The ecoExplore program with I-naturalist will also be discussed bringing in songbirds, milkweed and much more.
In future Zoom events, Jonathan Marchal, Director of Education, will share other programs that engage learners across the state, including the Blue Ridge Naturalist certification and Project EXPLORE citizen science teacher training.
Asheville is fortunate to be home to the beautiful North Carolina Arboretum, encompassing 435 acres of woods and formal gardens and 10 miles of trails. It is also a campus of the University of North Carolina and a center for ecological education for both children and adults.
