March for Truth June 3
June 3, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join us on Saturday, June 3rd, as we gather to demand urgency, transparency, and an impartial investigation into Russian interference in the U.S. election and ties to the Trump administration. March For Truth is a coordinated effort of peaceful demonstrations all over the country, with marches planned for Washington, D.C. and 135 other cities, including four in North Carolina—Asheville, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Pinehurst.
The Asheville March For Truth is being organized by several groups and individuals in Western North Carolina, and Indivisible AVL is taking part. We will gather at the Vance Monument at Pack Square at 11:00 a.m. Bring your signs, your family, your friends, your sunscreen, and a positive spirit. Let’s raise our voices and let our elected leaders know that Americans want answers!
#RussianTies Postcard Avalanche: Round 2
We’ll have card-writing stations set up Saturday to kick off Round 2 of the statewide #RussianTies postcard campaign to Sen. Richard Burr.
In March we joined with other Indivisible-affiliated groups across the state to send more than 8,000 handwritten postcards to Sen. Burr, urging him to investigate the administration’s #RussianTies. (Read more about that action here.) At the time we had only about 20 groups in the statewide network. Now we have over 100. Who knows how many we can send this time?
Indivisible AVL will provide cards, stamps, fact sheets, pens, and clipboards. Then on Monday, June 5th—the coordinated mail drop date across the state—we will join with thousands of others in sending a massive avalanche of cards to Sen. Burr.
How to Participate
- Join us at the March For Truth on Saturday, and make your voices heard!
- If you can’t attend, write your own postcards or host a postcard party over the weekend. Just be sure to mail them on Monday, June 5th, and then let us know: Take a photo of your cards and post it to our Facebook page, or drop us a note at email@example.com to let us know how many you mailed. We want to track the total number.
- Postcards should include your complete legal name and home address and should be addressed to: Sen. Richard Burr, 217 Russell Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20510
- Volunteer: Our Congress Watch Team is helping with this event, and they could use several more helpers for staffing the postcard-writing stations. Email firstname.lastname@example.org, or send us a private message or post on our Facebook page.
See you Saturday!
