Madison County Special Planning Board Meeting
August 2, 2022 @ 6:30 pm
At the Madison County Special Planning Board’s August 2nd meeting, 6:30 pm, at the Marshall Library, the Board will consider making changes to the Land Use Ordinance for a new section to create and implement a newly formed “Section 8.3 (Biomass Facilities)” as a regulated land use category.
This new Land Use Ordinance Section 8.3 would provide specified permit conditional language to be utilized for the consideration by the Board of Adjustment for any biomass facilities proposal.
“Biomass” is a broad spectrum of business types that include:
THE GOOD:
– Small trailer sized plants that can create energy for a micro grid or Synthetic Diesel and Biofuel products from wood slash and brush piles.
THE BAD:
– Large Scale Wood pellet factories run by large, outside companies.

The UGLY:
– Plants that burn “biomass” types that can include human and animal excrement, sludge, creosote soaked rail road ties and plastic – brought in by truck and maybe rail…. to generate electricity.
Clear Sky Madison endeavors to work with Madison County to promote good small business Biomass solutions. Sensible land use ordinance rules need to be created that will encourage Better Business than Biomass.
