Envisioning Reparations in Asheville

February 2 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Join CJJ-West for “Envisioning Reparations” on Thursday, February 2nd, at 11:30 am, either virtually or in-person at Land of Sky UCC. Dr. Dwight Mullen will discuss how the Asheville/Buncombe Reparations Commission is working toward healing the racial gaps in our community.

Professor Emeritus at UNCA, Dr. Mullen offered courses in public policy, American politics, and African and African-American politics.  For more than a decade, Mullen and his students produced an annual research project, “The State of Black Asheville,” collecting and presenting an array of data on health, housing, income, education, employment and incarceration rates cataloging the severe racial disparities in Asheville. Now, as the chair of the Asheville/Buncombe Reparations Commission, he is leading our community toward addressing this harm.

Please register via this Google Form and indicate your attendance and food preferences.
