Beer, Politics & Postcards
November 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Congress may have kicked the can down the road, but they’re not done wrangling over the budget.
This month’s letter-writing drop-in will be focused entirely on countering the threatened government shutdown, which has been manufactured (again) by the grossly dysfunctional majority party in the U.S. House. We will focus on emails, phone calls and online forms.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we want to thank our Representatives in the House and Senate for doing the right thing and avoiding a shutdown right before the holiday season, and urge them to get down to business and continue to do the right thing with the final budget.
We will be calling on Congressman Chuck Edwards and House Speaker Mike Johnson to pass a clean stopgap spending bill, with NO cuts to the $1.59 trillion agreed on by the President and then-speaker McCarthy in June, and without conditions or add-ons. Rep. Edwards and Speaker Johnson need to hear from us – loud and clear.
As always, we’ll provide fact sheets and sample messaging. Please bring your phone – and come fired up and ready to call!
Zillicoah has lots of beer options plus non-alcoholic drinks. This week’s food truck, El Querubin, has tacos, empanadas, burritos and more.
This is informal, so drop by any time between 6:30 and 8:30 pm – and bring a friend! Everyone’s welcome.
