Beer & Politics – Protecting Net Neutrality + Saving Healthcare
August 9 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Canceling Net Neutrality, as proposed by Trump-appointed FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, would allow big telecom companies to create fast and slow lanes on the internet, censor content, and charge more. The cut-off date for comments to the FCC is August 17, so we’re making one last push for calling and writing our Members of Congress and submitting comments directly to the FCC.
We will also continue to keep attention on healthcare, especially with our representatives in the House. District 11 Rep. Mark Meadows has made it clear that he intends to keep trying to repeal the ACA.
You can enter your comments directly to the FCC any time before August 17. Go to gofccyourself.com (thanks to John Oliver for the shortcut!), which redirects to the Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS) page on the FCC website where you start entering comments: Click on “Express,” fill out the form, and your comments are officially registered. For more on net neutrality, including links, a video, and talking points, hop over to our Free Press Team page.
Beer & Politics is a fun and easy way to reach out and make our voices heard. Drop by after work any time between 5:30 and 6:30. We’ll supply fact sheets on this week’s topics, plus address labels, postcards, stationery, envelopes, and stamps.
Note: Use the month selection in the search bar at the top of the calendar to jump to a different month if the links at the bottom are not working.
