Tell Tillis to Vote NO on Radical Judicial Nominee Steven Menashi
Donald Trump has nominated far-right extremist Steven Menashi to serve on the influential Second Circuit Court of Appeals. In his published writings, Menashi has an extensive record of racist, sexist, and homophobic positions, and has such a terrible record on human rights that the Alliance for Justice has issued a background report denouncing his nomination and “strongly opposing” his confirmation.
As Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’s right-hand man, Menashi helped roll back protections for students of color, sexual assault survivors, and victims of fraudulent for-profit colleges. And as a White House lawyer, he has worked closely with Stephen Miller on advancing Trump’s draconian immigration policy.
One of his most frightening stances is his stated belief in ethnonationalism, claiming that a democracy can’t work unless the country is defined by one race or ethnicity.
On October 17, the Senate Judiciary Committee delayed action on a number of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees, including Menashi, which means he has to wait at least a week for the committee to consider his nomination again. That week is up October 24, and Sen. Thom Tillis sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Take Action NOW
Call and email Sen. Tillis and tell him to vote NO on radical nominee Steven Menashi. Tell him “Extremists bent on taking away our rights and legal protections have no place in the federal judicial system.”
