Reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act
A bipartisan bill (H.R. 1585) to renew and improve the Violence Against Women Act was passed in the House with bipartisan support, but the Senate has not yet passed this crucial legislation. Call and write Senators Burr and Tillis and urge them to pass VAWA 2019, to make sure survivors have access to lifesaving protections and services.
Suggested talking points: “The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (H.R. 1585) recently passed the House of Representatives with strong bipartisan support. I urge you to support a strong companion bill to H.R. 1585 – with key updates and no rollbacks – in the Senate. Your vote to pass this important legislation will help increase access to safety and justice for more survivors of domestic violence, many of whom have been unable to find help before.”
