“Kids Rising” Raises Spirits While Raising Funds
Kids and parents and adults of all ages turned out for our family-friendly event on Saturday, August 24, 2019, “Kids Rising: Standing Up for Families at the Border.”
The auditorium at Pack Memorial Library was transformed into a big play space, with tables for drawing and writing and crafts. Everyone got a chance to create messages for the President and our members of Congress, sharing concerns about the mistreatment of immigrant children and families at our southern border. And kids had a chance to make Mexican paper flowers and play some cool cooperative games.
In the process, we also raised $256 for Pisgah Legal Services’ Justice For All Project, which helps immigrant families in WNC. And thanks to the Justice For All Matching Challenge, that $256 got turned into $512! If you missed a chance to support this important immigrant justice program on Saturday, please donate online: Visit PisgahLegal.org/give, click on the drop-downs under “I want my gift to be designated toward” and select “Justice For All Matching Challenge (Immigration).”
You can also download the “Kids Rising” Action Sheet here, with talking points and contact info for your Members of Congress. Let’s keep the pressure on our MOCs to stop the mistreatment of immigrant families at the border.
