Censure McHenry & Meadows For Refusing to Censure Trump

On July 16, virtually every Republican representative — including WNC’s own Patrick McHenry and Mark Meadoes — voted against a resolution condemning Trump’s virulent, bigoted attacks on four Democratic members of Congress, all of whom are women of color.

H. Res. 489 was a resolution that “strongly condemns President Donald Trump’s racist comments,” a resolution that has no legal force but is intended to show Congressional disapproval of the president’s egregious behavior. As a simple resolution, it is voted on in only one chamber. According to GovTrack.us, it “appears to be the first time in history that a President was condemned by a chamber of Congress.”
By refusing to condemn Trump’s attacks on women of color, McHenry and Meadows have made a clear statement about their own moral values. If their votes do not represent you, their constituents, call today and let them know!
