Free Masks for WNC Nonprofits: Respond by 12 Noon Friday 6/12/20
This just in from our friends at the Land of Sky Regional Council:
In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the federal government launched “Project America Strong” to distribute reusable cotton face coverings in support of critical infrastructure areas across the country. The face coverings provided by FEMA are 100% cotton and contain silver and copper, which help prevent the growth of viruses and germs. Through this program, nonprofit organizations can obtain reusable face coverings, free of charge. Wear and care information.
United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County applied for 125,000 and has to date received 94,500 face coverings through this program and is working with regional partners to distribute them equitably. If you represent a nonprofit or grassroots organization in Western North Carolina and need face coverings, please complete the form below. Per FEMA guidelines, the masks are to be used for staff and volunteers (infrastructure support); however, we are not requiring documentation of their use.
To be as effective and efficient as possible in distributing this personal protective gear, we are instituting minimum and maximum orders. If your organization cannot fulfill the minimum order, please connect with a fellow organization to combine your orders and submit them under one request.
We are collecting all orders via the form below and will fulfill orders based on the region’s requests. Distribution partners will be identified in each county. Nonprofits and grassroots organizations will be responsible for picking up their orders from these partners.
Further communication will be sent to each organization regarding their distribution partner and approximate availability date.
