A Letter from Indivisible AVL President Robin Lively Summers (April 30, 2024)

As an all-volunteer grassroots organization, everything we do here at Indivisible AVL is dependent on the energy and support of people like you. We took the lead in developing the new WNC Votes Coalition this year in order to maximize our get-out-the-vote work and share resources with our community partners.

But how much we can do ultimately depends on you.

Can you help support our 2024 Voter Outreach program? Here are three ways you can get involved:

  1. First, sign up to volunteer! Our WNC Votes coalition has been working hard on monthly Voter Outreach Canvasses, and there are also tabling and other opportunities for voter engagement. So please register for the May 5 Canvass at bit.ly/wncv-canvass-may and invite others to sign up and share.
  2. If you’re a social media whiz—or if you know someone who is—consider joining the Indivisible AVL Communications Team to help manage our social media accounts. Our outgoing social media manager had this to say: “Volunteering as a social media manager for Indivisible AVL has been an immensely fulfilling experience, allowing me to engage with diverse communities and amplify democratic participation. The team is great and the work is meaningful!” You can see details about this opportunity here. Please drop me a line if you’re interested or if you’d like to learn more.
  3. And if you’re able to make a donation to support this work, please do so now. Twice a year we hold a matching challenge fundraiser, with all donations matched dollar for dollar by the national Indivisible Project up to a total of $500. Because of the added expenses associated with our ambitious voter outreach program this year, we’ve set a base goal of $750 for this year’s Spring Match, with a dream goal of $1,000. Here are some of the costs associated with recent Voter Outreach activities:

* $50 –  Special event tabling fee
* $71 –  Social media promotion for Canvass event
* $125 – Venue rental for one canvass
* $387 – Print materials for voter registration/info table

….and more. It all adds up so quickly!

Our 2024 Spring Match runs from April 1 through May 31, and so far we’ve raised $411—a little over halfway to our minimum goal of $750. If you can contribute financially to our voter outreach program, please donate now when your gift will be doubled. And help us reach our big goal of $1,000 by May 31st! You can make a secure online donation at: https://bit.ly/spring-match-2024

Thank you for all you do to support democracy and voting in this strange and crucial election year. I hope to see you at an upcoming voter outreach event soon. Together, we will make a difference in 2024.

In solidarity,

Robin Lively Summers
